The pool in winter – sharing it so everyone can benefit

In Vendays-Montalivet, we’re lucky to have several pools – even if they are all located in tourist centres and not open to the public.

One of them is rented by the municipality during the winter, so that children from both local schools can have swimming lessons.

It’s a great initiative and a smart way to use existing infrastructure.

We suggest taking it one step further: since the pool is already heated, maintained and open for the children’s lessons, why not also use it at other times for additional activities?

For example: aquagym, aquabike, public sessions through Monta Sport, or even a small local swimming club.

This would turn a good project into a real community space, open to all: children, adults, seniors, year-round residents and seasonal workers. The ocean is often too cold in winter, but a nearby pool could become a place to stay fit, meet others, and enjoy time together.

A simple, realistic and useful idea that shows how a bit of imagination can do a lot for everyone’s well-being.
