A Cultural Centre

A “Cultural Centre” – moving from audience to active participation

In Vendays-Montalivet, we are fortunate to enjoy a rich, free and lively cultural life all year round: concerts, theatre, readings, exhibitions…

Many residents appreciate these moments, which are part of our everyday life and help strengthen the sense of community in our town.

But culture is not only about watching or listening. Many children, young people and adults would like to practise themselves, try things out, learn, meet others and create. Today, however, there is no simple place for this.

In the past, there was a music school in Montalivet, a lively place where people met and learned together. This space is now almost unused.

We therefore propose transforming it into a Cultural Centre, an open, welcoming and accessible place for everyone, where culture is not only consumed, but lived and shared.

It would be a space that gradually comes back to life:

• to rehearse or make music,
• to organise small workshops (writing, voice, instruments, visual arts),
• to allow groups to meet and gather,
• to enable everyone to discover or deepen a cultural activity.

A place where culture becomes accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience or background. A place to exchange, to learn and to create, simply. A place where everyone can say: “Here, I can try something, and I am welcome.”
